AssnNewNet Profile:
Bill Weber-
A Passion For Business and Life

by Jodi DeVillier, Coast Construction
August 2009

With a passion to succeed and driven by goals, Bill Weber, with Anderson Group International loves a challenge. He is known as the “on the spot problem solver” by his co-workers and as the Northern California Regional Manager,

Bill wears a lot of hats. He runs the day-to-day operations in the San Jose office as well as estimating and pitching in wherever he is needed. He’s not opposed to getting his hands dirty and will readily help on any project as necessary. He also does marketing for Anderson Group, which he believes is a job that belongs to every employee in the company.

Beginning his career with FourStar Restoration while still in high school, Weber’s first assignment was cleaning Jack-In-The-Box locations from 11pm to 3am each night. As FourStar added water restoration then smoke and fire and finally reconstruction, Bill was able to learn each segment of the restoration business. In 2008 when the opportunity arose to move to Anderson Group International as a Regional Manager, Bill jumped at the prospect and true to his love of a challenge, never looked back.

The diversity is what he loves the most about the business, “because every day is different and it is never boring”, he says. In addition to his regular day-to-day schedule, Bill loves getting involved in industry events as well as industry oversight. He co-chairs the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification’s Thermography Task Force and is a mediator for Standard of Care Issues with the Contractor’s State License Board. You may have also recently heard of the Cleaning and Restoration Association of which he is actively participating in as Vice President. Two of his long-term projects that recently came to completion were the IICRC S500 and S520 revisions that he helped co-author.

It was clear this is a passion of his. Getting the job done right is obviously Bill’s number one priority. The only thing he hates about his job is when he is prevented from doing the job correctly. He gets frustrated when people discount the hazards involved with mold and asbestos. Weber states, “The most important things we have are our reputations and our relationships”. Bill works to insure those two things are always protected, which means he works to protect his customers in the process.

With 23 years in the business, Bill enjoys being a mentor to those just getting started. He loves to lead a team to excellence and takes it as a compliment, rather than an insult, when someone goes off on their own. Seeing someone grow and reach higher than they expected is a fulfilling experience and one that Bill enjoys. This shows in his willingness and eagerness to give presentations and share his knowledge.

Bill has given close to 50 presentations to an array of organizations including our own Central Coast Claims Association and our East Bay Claims Association. In addition, he has spoken at numerous trade shows and conventions across the nation on topics ranging from mold and asbestos to thermography. Along with speaking engagements, Bill also writes articles for local publications and trade journals.

On the home front, Weber says he is still goal-oriented and functions best when his wife gives him a “Honey-Do” list. He’s happy to tackle each task and cross it off the list with a feeling of accomplishment. With three children, Mitchell, 14, Dillon, 11 and Emily, 8, Bill still finds time for work, family and enjoying the diversity of the Bay Area. He has an enthusiasm for Jet Skiing, which I suspect he rides with the same passion he has for his work.

Clearly, this is a man that lets no moss grow under his feet and yet, he has a relaxed and calm air about him. For the time we chatted, I felt he had nothing else to do and nowhere else to be. There is an art to being so accomplished and making it look so effortless. We are fortunate to have Bill Weber amongst us as an active member of the Central Coast Claims Association.
