Standing out on the twelfth tee at the Napa Valley Country Club, high above the greater Napa Valley, the picturesque landscape all around was breathtaking.
The California Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters (CAIIA) held their second annual golf tournament to kick off their annual convention October 20, 2008, and I was there to take photographs. It was a gloriously beautiful day, the kind of day that exemplifies the perfect October weather we historically enjoy in the Bay Area, and N. California in general, and that we have the privilege of bragging rights over. With numerous folks from Southern California, and other foreign lands as far away as Florida, in attendance for the event, it was hard not to gloat just a bit.
Complete photo gallery of the day are posted here.
Later that night, the CAIIA installed their new President, Pete Vaughan, of
Benicia-based Vaughan & Associates Adjusting Services.
Then, in a very similar (weather) vein, the Western Regional PLRB was held at the Sacramento Convention Center October 28-29th. And, again, we enjoyed spectacular weather. Despite the fact that this event was held indoors (as opposed to the scenic-scape of Napa), all present seemed clearly aware that N. California in October is, as one friend says, “the bomb”.
Even the evening festivities were brightened by a lovely night, which added to the party atmosphere.
The PLRB always draws a lot of folks from outside of the host city. Organizer Tom O’Dowd, himself, is from the greater Chicagoland area. He clearly enjoys his trips out this way, stating his pleasure with the whole experience.
Of course, it helps that the PLRB went so smoothly, with very strong attendance, good speakers, and a full house of exhibitors at their tradeshow.
Photos from PLRB are posted here.
The next PLRB event will be the main national conference in Seattle March 22-25, 2009. More at: www.claimsconf.org |
